hosehead OP top fuel Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,935 Grove, OK	I was just curious if anyone has had problems w/ the coatings on these. I need a set of headers and have heard some problems have been had by some. Darter6 member D Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 114 Nevada	I have installed 10-12 sets of TTI's over the years and have never had any problems. Read the directions before installing for tips.Before starting the engine wash any grease, oil, fingerprints , off with soap and water on a cloth "before" starting the engine. I learn things the hard way so that is why I stated "before" twice. On my race car I have the coating Both inside and out.They have been on the car for 5 years and look new.You won't be sorry spending the extra cash.One other tip that I have learned is to install new engine and tranny mounts at the same time. You will be much happier with the fit of your new headers.

The cppa/tti's turned a dark color and then sarted rusting where two tubes come close to each other. The Dougs were beautifull at the beginning but turned dull quickly and within 5-6months later I started seeing rust specs here and there. Last march when I pulled my motor the Dougs were covered with rust specs(they were on the truck for about 9 months). Cppa/tti's were used on a daily driver in ALL weather. The Dougs were never driven in the rain but the truck was parked outside 24/7.

When I had my race car (2 door post 67 Dart with 440) I had a interference problem with the combination of ARP Studs, Edelbrock heads, and TTI Under chassis headers (1 7/8) The studs stuck up just enough to keep the header flange plate from fitting flat on head surface. Yes the studs were installed correctly. I solved it by grinding a slight angle down taper to the top of each stud. Allowing the flange to slid over and fit flush. I'm sure others have seen this issue also. I might mention that the block had been surface trued how much that small amount contributed to the problem I don't know. As to the coating these were chrome and of course turned that wonderful blue color in no time. Anyway thats a small bit of FYI. Maynard Last edited by DartGTS; 03/30/11 08:57 PM.

Challenger 1 Too Many Posts Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 28,312 Cincinnati, Ohio	For the coatings to last, your tuneup needs to be good. If it's off the coatings are gonna suffer. Yes I think the interior thermal coating is worth it. It keeps under hood temps down which helps with vapor lock. And it helps keep the header from rusting from the inside out. I think it makes the header a little more quiet too. TTI recomends that you don't use there headers for your first fireup until your sure the tuneup is right. It makes all the difference in coatings.

Maynard Bluing of chrome headers usaully indicates a overy rich condition. imo

Nothing you can really see. When i get the bucks, i am putting tti from the headers back. Including the exhaust tips. Headers are coated inside.

Got mine from them, they seemed peeved and were not cheap. Did have to do a little ding-l-do ya for the pitmnan arm on the B Body.
