I finally found a 9-1/4 for my 73 Roadrunner the rear is out of a 75 Cordoba I'm told it will fit.... Will it ? I will measure before I buy it. The Cordoba rear has highway gears in it so I will need to change them. What years of 9-1/4 can I get get the gears out of ? I want 3:55 gears Can I get them out of a newer truck ?

The 9.25 in the late bs came with a 3.23 gear. The 8.25 would have either 2.45s or 2.76s in it.

The rear is pretty much a bolt in swap on your 73 (maybe not driveshaft, I'm unsure of the snout length difference)

Not all 9 1/4's came with 3.23's.

I had a Magnum GT some years back, 318 t-top car, and for whatever reason, it had 2.76 gears, and it was an 9 1/4. But what Czappa said, it should be a pretty much "plug and play".

From what I've read online, the diff should drop right in. AFAIK rear gears will fit all years of 9.25's from the 70's until the 2000's.

Thank you for the replies. I picked up the rear end the measurements of the housing are a perfect match to the 8-1/4 in the car now. The gears in the rear are 3:21 I can deal with that for now. The input shaft bearing feels like it's wasted But I've always wanted to learn how to rebuild a rearend now it looks like I'll get my chance. I'm sure I'll have questions when I get to the rebuild.

Want to get rid of those 3.23's? I could use those for my turbo truck. I would offer up the 3.92's I have but can't pull them out anytime soon.
