If my installed lever is a 2.9 ratio and the trans is out of my car now is this something I definitely want to change or is the 2.9 fine to stick with (69 R/T stockish 440/727)? IF i should change where do you get these?

Also was going to put a transgo TF2 kit in while the tranny is out if I can gain enough confidence to do so (instructions in the kit are a bit vague/confusing to a novice).

You'll want to switch to a 3.8 lever, contact John Cope at CRT for one.

independent of any other changes what would the change from the 2.9 to the 3.8 lever do?

Thanks

I believe the 3.8 lever is considered stock for a BB applications. There is also a 4.2 lever and a 5.0 lever available. The 5.0 lever is sorta overkill for a street-car. It's considered by most a race only modification. However, If you're doing a TF-2 kit, I'd most definately go to the 4.2 lever. It just puts that much more pressure to the 2nd gear band apply. I run one in my 727 with a TF-2 kit, behind a 451, and it shifts firm but not annoyingly harsh.

Not to step on JohnRR's advice, the 3.8 will work just fine, I just think if you're gonna change it, I'd suggest the 4.2.

IMO the 4.2 is the best lever to use for any performance application.

5.0 is not a good lever , especially for a street car with an automatic shift VB
