Ok, My GTX is still coming back to life. Now I'm trying to add the rockers back on but I have two issues. First there aren't enough holes. I believe the holes were filled by the last owner or the panels were replaced and the holes never drilled. So my evil plan is to tape above and below the rocker, mark the middle and then laser line it just to be sure and drill the remaining holes based on the spacing I already have.

Are the last holes closer together?

Also, how does the front clip work? If I drill a hole centerline, how far back? and I don't see how the clip works. I'm clueless unless the first hole is higher or lower than the others. Every way I arrange it the spring seems to ensure the clip doesn't hold anything. It must be easy, I'm just not seeing it.

Any clues would be great. I hate drilling unnecessary holes. Usually followed by a short explicative.

Thanks,

GTX - BEAUTIFUL car! I'd love to see pics of the assembly process for reference when I put my convertible back together. First off, are you using the white plastic clips? IIRC the holes are evenly spaced on the quarter but the last one might be closer to the next one if the spacing doesn't work out right. Also, I think there is a screw on one/bothe ends of the molding. I'm not 100% sure but I think there was only 1 clip on the fender with a screw at the end. That's the best I can offer and I'm sure someone else will be able to provide some additional info.

I just looked at my 68 Coronet, there are two holes close together at the rear of the 1/4 because all they use at the rear is two sets of the white plastic clips... Up front there is a stamped metal clip the bolts through the fender, Mine only has one clip in the fender, I've seen another 68 that had two clips in the fender but I think his fender had been replaced & the holes may have been added... Mine has nine plastic clips per side & one metal clip...

BTW I agree beautiful GTX

The plastic clips that go in the rocker should have a plastic "pin" that you push in after putting the clip in the hole, This will flare the grips holding the clip in place. The rocker should just snap on the clip.
If the front retainer is similair to mine than look at the rocker molding, it may be notched somewhere. This is where you would insert the metal clip and slide it towards the end. Put the rocker on by inserting the post of the metal clip in the fender first then you may have to adjust the molding to align it before popping it onto the plastic clips. Usually you can "catch" one edge of the clip and then snap it over the opposite one.

If you can't find the info, I can snap a pic of the fenders that came off my 68 for the hole placement. I can't help on the holes for the lower 1/4s as I replaced them 10 years ago.

9 holes for plastic clips. Rear is patch but holes were located off original panel.
Anyone out there who can post where the hole in the fenders are drilled?

Thanks, with the photos posted I'm pretty sure I'll be done this weekend. Here's a photo of the front clip and how I think it locks in place. I have the plastic clips and pins for the rest of the rocker.

The front clip looks flat? Maybe it's an optical illusion but it should not be flat. It needs to be bent the same curve as the rocker panel so that the edges of the trim fits tight.

That's not the original clip, it's a generic replacement.. But it should work fine...

Would all these hole references also be the same for a '69 Roadrunner?
