I have two Bryant cranks that have been hurt. One has had a rod bolt jab into one of the oil wholes on the journal and created a pretty big dent/hole.

The other crank was maged and supposedly has a crack around one of the main journals. I saw supposedly because i was not shown the crack and the guy who maged it was very quick at wanting to order me a new one.

Just wondering if there were any GOOD places to go to get them welded and fixed.

It would be a shame to have both this Bryant's to become paper weights.

IIRC Bryant will do it for $450 and you know it will be done right

That includes welding, grinding, polishing, nitriding, and straightening....

Sorry, my bad I was going thru some stuff and that was the price Winberg quoted me this summer to fix one of my cranks.

I would guess Bryant would be in the same ballpark....

This is who repairs most of the bryant cranks, they do almost all of the top fuel and alcohol teams stuff. He has done about 4 different cranks for me over the years. I think this is the best shop in the country to repair cranks.

I am troubled by this statement. Every time I have had a problem with a crank, they were happy to show me the damange under the UV light and or show me under normal light (because you now know where the damage is). I would demand to see the damage. If not, I would be inclined to believe your not being treated correctly.

I have used Marine Crankshaft company,714-549-2388 to repair high end stroker crankshafts that had a lateral crack across a journal as well as correcting the stroke when one of them was off .020 They do a lot of high dollar two and four stroke marine cranksahfts. The onwer is from New Zealand(ask for the common wealth discount , if he offers one ) and worked for Sonny Bryant for several years, very knowledgable on all aspects of crankshafts construction, materials and repairs.

generally speaking, most lateral cracks can be repaired. radial cracks should never be repaired IMO and most shops won't do it, a few will but it's still not adviseable, especially on a high end race combo.
i'm not sure if i'm allowed to tell you guys this, but we also have the ability to Mag, weld/ repair and grind crankshafts with 30+ years experience doing it.
