I didn't realize your car was that light to begin with. you are right it looks a lot heavier than it is. I've been trying all winter to get my small block car down to 2800lbs with driver, but I don't know if I've done it or not.

I really didn't realize all of the different places that I could remove weight. Just have to justify the cost to reduce the weight vs. simply upping the HP. I decided to just lighten the car since that will pay future dividends with less parts breakage. I refuse to sacrifice the original outward appearance of the car though.

Your doing good.My car has a alum motor in it and is still 3,120.But I can't give up the stock interior or the stock gauges.And I can't afford a chromoly cage so I guess I'll have to deal with it.
3120lb, small block, 10.5" tire, NA, through exhaust, full int, WITH 83/4 REAR, 9.0 at 150mph

Fabbed moly k-frame, fabbed front struts, R&P steering. Can't get much lighter there.

BTW, it still has the factory interior door panels, headliner and will be carpeted.
did you weigh your regulators, specificaly the rear?
I didn't weight the rear regulators. The last year car weight was without those since I removed those early last year. I am going to do the pass side window fixed in place without any track and I am going to do the driver side window so it rolls up and down (fasten with seat belt like old super stock) since I can't even think how big of a PITA it would be to load and unload the car without being able to steer it.

Guess I should get the scale out before I go spewing out numbers. I scaled the old batteries yesterday so I could take inventory and they were 39 lbs for one and 40 lbs for the other. So they are 79 lbs and not the 96 lbs I previously stated.

A friend went that extra step with weight savings and dropped around 30 lbs himself!
I have a 68 Valiant where the original builder swiss cheesed most of the panels. The hood was quite light, on par with some of the fibre glass stuff I have seen.
