Well, after adding the additional tubing for the 25.5 cert and fire bottle we were able to still see a 125+ lb weight savings from the car over the off season. This is without really changing the outward appearance any....which looks heavier than it really is.

Most of the savings is going from 2 red top Optima batteries (96 lbs) to a single 16V XS lightweight battery (32 lbs). The rest came from alot of various places. Still working on about 35 more lbs to shed. Now if I could just build that new big inch aluminum gen III hemi I could get the car down to almost 2550.

I was 2840 last year. Other weight savings is coming from:

More efficient wiring
light weight headlights
removal of the original trans crossmember
removal of all of the structure under the dash that used to mount the brake pedal/master cyl
lightened the dash
add racepak and loose all of the gauges/shift light/fuel isolator
lexan windshield/side windows/remove regulators
removed every unnecessary tab/bracket/piece of metal (4 lbs in a bucket)

I am sure there are other places I lost weight. Not everything I mentioned has been done yet either. I started out the winter with a goal of making the car cert 25.5 and to reduce the weight to 2700 lbs without jacking up the overall look of my car. BTW, it still has the factory interior door panels, headliner and will be carpeted.

You could also back away from the table a little earlier and get part of that 35# loss you are looking for! just an idea son!

I didn't realize your car was that light to begin with. you are right it looks a lot heavier than it is. I've been trying all winter to get my small block car down to 2800lbs with driver, but I don't know if I've done it or not.

I really didn't realize all of the different places that I could remove weight. Just have to justify the cost to reduce the weight vs. simply upping the HP. I decided to just lighten the car since that will pay future dividends with less parts breakage. I refuse to sacrifice the original outward appearance of the car though.

Your doing good.My car has a alum motor in it and is still 3,120.But I can't give up the stock interior or the stock gauges. And I can't afford a chromoly cage so I guess I'll have to deal with it.

Fabbed moly k-frame, fabbed front struts, R&P steering. Can't get much lighter there.

I didn't weight the rear regulators. The last year car weight was without those since I removed those early last year. I am going to do the pass side window fixed in place without any track and I am going to do the driver side window so it rolls up and down (fasten with seat belt like old super stock) since I can't even think how big of a PITA it would be to load and unload the car without being able to steer it.

Brian the best way to get 100 lbs off your car is to find 1600 places to take off an ounce

I got a pair of those headlights...I love them
