Is that Oldsmar? Robert drove me over there the last time I was in Tampa. Most of the track is still there, but everything else is a park now. I never went there when it was open. I mostly went to Bradenton because it was brand new when I was in HS.

From Tom Shively, it went to Tom Welsh and his brother. They were also from Ocala.

The next owner was Joe Saunders, who also had 2 LO23s and 1 BO29. Joe was having some work done at a shop in Orlando went it was severely wrecked when loading it on a trailer. It was a freak wreck that also involved a '64 Maxie, also owned by Joe.

Stewart, do you know if Joe still has it or if it was ever repaired?
I spoke with Tom Smith, the guy that wrecked it in 1990, a month after it happened. From how he described what happened, it may have been a total loss.

I am not sure if it was restored, I know Joe asked me to authenticate that it was a S&M car, which I did, then gave a deposition, then went to Orlando for the trial - and Joe did not repay me for any of my efforts - he has also reneged on an agreement with a friend of mine, to build him a turbo motor - then did not pay him. I am not a fan of Joe.

Anyone have a contact for the Oldsmar track photographer? I have a friend that used to race his Hemi Duster (pearl white with candy stripes) there in the mid-1970s. The car was called the Prescription Hemi.

That is a narrow looking track. Did you need to run rub strips on the sides of the cars? Chad said he ran off the end when his new aluminum disc brakes didn't work too well. Pre-carbon disc days.

I should have noticed the Zorian decal on the fender and known that it was before RPM, Stewart. Have you found anything more on the where about's of the Colt?

Yes, the Colt has been found and is in the process of being slowly restored. That is all I am allowed to share -- A long, twisting process, but thru perservance and efforts - it might be brought back to life -- A Great Feeling - One of three cars, that I think are at the top of the List, as far as significant.
