I found a 72 Rallye Charger that has an Export code on the fender tag and is a 400 2bbl car with air cond.,power windows,P-steering,P-brakes,buckets console automatic,AM/FM radio with rear speakers, hood treatment but heres the odd thing, its GunMetal gray with the b5 interior...........How odd of car do you think this is? Whats your opinion of such a car?

A friend of mine found a '68 Barracuda conv. that was buffed silver, B5 blue interior, and white conv. top. It was way too rusty to even consider putting money into it. Even if it had a more common black top, I thought that was a very unusual color combo. I love Mopar for not being afraid to bolt together some real unusual machines. I sold a '67 Dart GT hardtop that was B5 with a white interior and black top. I still miss that one, but I'm not letting my '69 Dart GT hartop go anywhere. That one's red on red with a black top. Mopars are the best.

The last entry on that list makes me question the accuracy of the whole list.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Have had a few Rallye's in the past,SE's as well. I know the SE's had the bigblocks with 2bbl's standard, but not Rallye's,I would think anyway. How may R/T's in 71 and before had 2bbl motors!? Rallye replaced the R/T in'72. Would be funny seeing a 72 Rallye with a Power Bulge hood that said "400 MAGNUM",and then pop the hood and see a 2bbl motor sitting there.Maybe a dealer or factory mistake!? Does this thing have bright exhaust tips? I know the Rallye's and 4bbl SE cars had them. On the SE's,it had to have a 4bbl to get the tips. Is it the #'s motor in it? Anything on the buildsheet? And that list only shows the numbers of how many Rallyes were built, not what came in them. The rest are just engine choices and how many for that model year h.top,etc.

Also, the 4 and 2bbl motors had different cams, pull the valve covers off and check the color of the valve springs. Just an idea....

In 1972, you could get a 318 2bbl Rallye as well as a 400 2bbl, both with single exhaust. The hoods did not have engine call-outs like all the 4bbl (& 6bbl) cars did.

I've seen the Broadcast Sheet on the car being discussed - it IS a legit 400 2bbl export Rallye car. Kind of a neat combo all around.

The 2 Six Pack cars do exist... one is red, the other yellow. Both are VERY early production cars built in St. Louis. They are the only 2 known...

That is 2 cars that have been proven to be out there. It is thought that there were between 7 & 9 built. There is one here in Mich. it has been in storage for over 15 years now. I don't think it is one of the 2 known cars.

I stand corrected! Mopar-always a learning curve!
Gotta luv it.
Though I am intrigued more by the body/interior color combo than the engine part of this thread.

I know this is old but it sounds a lot like my dads old Rallye Charger. Do you have any pics? or a pic of the fender tag? Where did you find it?

YEP! I can second that they exist. I know of one very well that my buddy bought and we towed back from Kansas City. Original 400 2 Bbl GY8 gold car. It is all pulled apart now on a rotisserie in his garage.

In fact we found a second B5 blue one just this year in iowa that we pulled apart for parts. The body was gone and all of the good parts war pretty much picked off of.
