This block was identical to the earlier one except that the hole for the brace on the left side was moved forward one inch (to 10") so that it would clear the bigger starter motor. Most of these blocks had a boss with room for both holes, but they were not always drilled.




My block is definitely a '74, but otherwise it is just as described above. They must have had a typo on the year. The boss is still there at the old location, but it is drilled an inch further forward. There is room to drill another hole at the old location if I ever get the block out again.

I got the braces, and Don was right........one side will not fit with headers. The starter side does, and I think I can modify the right one to fit. If not, one will be better than none!
