Did the plastic screens located on top of the cowl get secured by screws from the factory even though they "snap" into place?. I noticed there are hole provisions in the screens that line up with holes in the cowl, but don't see any evidence that screws were ever used? Thanks for any info. that can be provided.

I've never seen any that used screws, even up through the end of B-body production in '79.

Just to make sure I understand......, There was cowl screens produced that did not "snap-in" and only used screws to hold them in? The snap in style came in later years?

Thanks for all the reply's so far. It appears that this may be a build date issue?? Just for the sake of clarification, the build date on my car is Jan 71 and it does not appear that any screws were ever screwed into the cowl holes, but they do snap in ??

Very interesting.

My '72 Rallye screens snapped in. July 72 build out of Lynch Road.

My '77 Chrysler Cordoba and '79 Dodge Magnum both have snap in screens as well.

I agree with the build date change and Jan could be the change over depending on the plant. My 71 Super Bee, Oct 70 built had screw in only ones, there were no snap in tabs. I spent months finding a replacement set. Not an easy part to find. My Oct 71 built Charger has snap in ones.

to really figure it out could take some good research
it could be a plant/ date type thing.....
i have seen sheetmetal differances in panels in the same cars made from differant plants.

so where the supply of each kind of vents came from could matter.

It must have been an assembly plant thing and maybe division because my build date is Jan. 21, 1971 out of the St Louis plant and its a Plymouth not Dodge?? This is CRAZY!! I guess since mine are the snap in type with no screws I will leave it as is and consider it correct until I find out different. Thanks for all the reply's

I should amend my post for clarification to say they are screwed in but also have the snaps like Nick's Pink (I thought they all had snaps)

Nice Car!! A little had to see, but it appears that there are no screws in the cowl screens. Thanks for passing on this info.
