Probably to equalize vacuum in all intake runners?

I don't know. Maybe gremlinsteve will educate us.

Thanks gremlinsteve for the great pics. Do you have any flow bench numbers for these?

I don't think they have EGR, at least the emissions label on my 2010 Challenger doesn't list it. They probably use the VVT to simulate EGR like the Mazda's I work on do. Basically, hang the exhaust valve open farther to introduce exhaust gases to combustion chamber. Of course that only works with the VVT engines like those Eagle heads came off of.

I sent Steve that cylinder head half for his R&D. I have the matching side. The hole you see is from Steve drilling through the port to see how thick the wall is.

the msd hemi 6 uses the factory crank, cam, map sensers, and is tuneable on the advance curves.i have 2 on 2004 5.7 carbed street cars.

I'm curious..... how do those cars run? ET? Weight?

The 6.1 N/A cars @4k lbs are running 10's
The 5.7 N/A cars @4k lbs are approaching mid 11's
The stroker F/I Hemi's are deep in the 9's as of last week.

These are street driven cars!

The Gen III Hemi's are getting faster everyday! I'm a CMR Dealer and have tuned quite a few of these cars and must say that I am really impressed at how easy it is to modify a pre-09 5.7 or 6.1 and make killer power!

We have an 07 Charger on the dyno right now that is one of the faster N/A full weight 5.7 LX's in the country. Just converted it to E85 and we'll be taking it to Thompson next week to see if we can set a new 5.7 N/A record.

For me it's just like the 70's all over again. Same bolt on parts as GM but they're more expensive, not as many aftermarket manufacturers as the GM guys, limited "used" performance parts availability but when it's all said and done the Mopars really make power and are durable.

Great thread. Just so everyone knows, the MSD coil packs have the exact stock specs as Mopars.
