i just aquired a low mile 09 hemi replacement long block complete engine..
where is a good place to learn about tricks for the new hemi's
i thinking of stroked with a power adder for the drag only duster...
rignt now its a complete running motor.
i dont know if i should keep the efi or go something else..?
who knows what and where to learn up..

3rd Gen Hemi's have the small block bell housing bolt pattern. Mopar makes a flex plate for mating to the converter. Check out www.lxforums.com. There are a ton of vendors that support the site & offer parts for 3rd Gen Hemi's.

i am interested as well. With the heads capable of big cfm compared to an average small block head, they seem to be an interesting alternative to run of mill engine builds. i think they are an alternative.
i think a drag pak intake may be beneficial, but could be costly.
if it is an 09 engine, you have one piece to the puzzle, which are the eagle casting heads, that flow well for OEM castings.

We just did a 6.1L super stock legal engine for a customer of ours & almost made 700 HP N/A. 689/586 to be exact. Not bad.

I don't think there are any cams out yet for the 09 hemi as it uses a very different drive set up for the variable cam timing. The heads are almost as good as it gets. I have heard of 440 inch gen III hemis and people are running them at 700 hp on routine basis and I have not heard of a block failure yet on either the 6.1 or 5.7.
I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

or can i delete the vvt cam set up?
i want to stroke it..what cranks are available?
are these cyl bores able to be bored? or is the
finish on them too hard?
if so..how big from 3.90 can i go?

'08-down 5.7 has near unlimited aftermarket cam support.
'09-up 5.7 has basically no aftermarket cam support at all, unless you include the welded up, reground stock cams that are floating around out there....
It's not easy to delete the vvt from a 2009-up 5.7 shortblock because the front cam journal is huge, much bigger than the old style cam. The old style cam would fall right through the hole in the block....and as said the drive is different also.
It's much easier to get a 2008 or earlier 5.7, or a 6.1, and start with that instead.
