I know I had to grind a spot on my mini where it was touching the block slightly IIRC.

where exactly did you grind it at and what did you use a die grinder..thanks
I picked up a starter for a '90 truck v8 for my sig car, much smaller, lighter, and spins much faster. I used a die grinder on the metal casing that protects the part that pops out to engage the flywheel. When I bolted it up that part was rubbing the aftermarket flexplate. So a few minutes with the grinder gave me all the clearance needed. I also ground a little off the nose cone. And removethe electrical connector so your factory starter wires will bolt right to the starter. Cost me $118 or so at autozone with a lifetime warranty though.

Also, the starter that I picked up (any early 90's v6 or v8 truck) is supposed to fit SB, BB, and RB's too, IIRC.

could any one tell me where to get a correct mini starter for a mopar 1972 400 engine ..i recently bought one off ebay from a guy in california and got it here this week and went to install it and it wouldn't fit correctly..if i take the mounting bolts off of the starter it seems to fit in the transmission fine flush , but when i try to align the bolt pattern for both holes the solenoid body on the mini starter seems to hit the engine block.. and want align flush ..i don't understand this has anyone had this problem.....please help
what exactly is it hitting ? do you have headers ?a mini on a low deck with headers can have a clearance issue also
