I'm redoing my garage at home and the the contractor thats doing the electrical showed me proposed plans for a full on 1/4 mile facility right here in Fresno. Supposidly the it has the backing and a banker has been established. Anyone else in central cali heard of that?

An "ALL DIRT Facility". That sounds like fun. Toss on some 4x4 meats and go! If I had more that 3" of oil pan to ground clearance, I'd be willing to give it a shot.-Tom.

I thought that about the dirt too... Apparently the drag strip is asphalt....just everything else is dirt.

No, the plans says Fresno Raceway Park and is suppose to be somewhere on Jensen ave just west of Hwy 99. And no its not Eagle Field but that may be why they want to build it. That event has gotten a lot of interest and a pretty good car count in the last few events. Every year that event comes on the same day as our show in Madera so we have missed them all. I dont know how i'd act if i only had a 20 minute ride to go race! Most plans around here including the Tulare track have met with typical California red tape and died. Hope someone around here can see what a benefit it would be and push it through. More than likely it will invade some insugnifigant field rat's home and will hault progress.

It's supposed to be near the old land fill. It's still in the early stages. Margret Mims(Fresno County Sheriff) supports the idea. The guys behind it are racers and businessmen. Gary Scelzi is part of that group. Eagle Field has been insanely popular. HOT ROD magazine has covered it. And there is discussion that Eagle Field will be broadcast live in May. The Fresno track may actually make it. The site will have few EPA rules.

Sounds good to me.
Fresno needs a good solid strip.
I am going to look into a few things and see if I can get some more details.
I'll let you know if I find anything more.

Bakersfield needs a new surface, anyone hear on dates of the work?
It would have to be between now and mid February that they do especially with March Meets.

I know at one time police chief Dyer was wanting a drags strip out near the new training facility. Not sure where that went.

Famoso is getting new concrete as we speak....the full quarter. Should be fast and last a long time...the track was redone less than 6 years ago....but it's falling apart yet again. Blake Bowser is putting tons of money into the track. I'm still lobbying for better restrooms and pay showers.

Follow more of it here... http://forums.thefoat.com/FamosoRaceway/sg-forums.thread/th-465
