I purchased this kit BECAUSE there was a massive amount of missing parts on my roadruner project (took over the project from someone else).

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/630220/10002/-1

Everything has been installed perfectly. It is perfect. That is...until I got to the wonky power brake pedal / booster setup.

Has anyone dealt with this kit?

Originally my 1970 came with power drums. The booster supplied with this kit, the bolt pattern to it, is off. Also, since I have a 4 speed, there is tons of OEM bracketry and so forth on the inside which would all have to be gutted out to fit in this aftermarket business.

What the crap is going on? I even called Jegs and they were less than helpful but showed that I have the correct parts.

I am pretty upset. Has anyone messed with this kit?

The new, adjustable linkage bolts directly to the pedal, so you must discard the old bell crank under the dash.

I think the (original power brake) firewall stiffening plate must also be modified.

What specifically is the problem? All you need to do on the inside is connect the brake booster push rod to the brake pedal. Why would anything else need to be changed?

Let's see some pics! Maybe then someone can help you...

Good luck!

Hello and thanks!
I understand what you guys are suggesting and later tonight I'll get pictures for you, but the problem is the new bracket is a puzzle along with the bolt pattern being off from the own bolt pattern. I realize I'll have to drill that support plate and possibly the firewall but it appears to get this bracket to hook into the stock pedal is quite the operation.
I'll post pics but if somealso has pics that would be great!

maybe this is apples and oranges, but I bought a power booster, brackets, pedal pushrod, and m/c for my 68 charger.
They are leftovers from a stainless steel brakes corp disc kit. The guy who sold it to me used the rotors, calipers, etc for his 69 charger but said he couldn't use the booster, master, brackets because his car was originally a power brake car and the kit was meant to convert manual brake cars to power as well as disc. His was a project in pieces too and he said he ended up locating and rebuilding a factory booster.

the booster and bracket in your kit look exactly like the ones I bought from him. Maybe that's your issue.

I hear ya and I was worried about that too because my car was originally power drums and a four speed. So I called jegs less than helpful support line to verify part numbers and configuration. They confirmed that it will work on my setup but to call in next week to talk to their brake specialist. The rest of the kit was plug and play, until I got to this brake setup, it's a mess!

If the booster in your kit looks like the one in the picture you will need to modify the mount plate to accept the new booster. Those kits use a chevy booster and calipers. There is nothing wrong with them. I have the same kit on my 69 Bee and it works great.

Yes that (except for the bracket looking thing under the master cylinder.) is the booster and pedal bracketry I have!

The issue I am having is the cluster under my dash will have to be majorly hacked to fit this new setup. Would you happen to have a picture on how this installs and how this bracketry orientates?

Thanks a million fir all the help.

Sorry no pictures of the install under the dash or of the bracket modifications. It was a bear until I figured out what had to be done to make it work. My car is also an original power brake car.

As far as I know, hacking is not required, but you must remove ALL the power brake linkage under the dash.

The new rod bolts directly to the brake pedal, like a manual brake set-up.

Ok, so here's what I have going on.

Here is my firewall:

Here is my pedal assembly:

Here is my booster, do the brakets point up or down when installed?

Here is my support plate:

So, as you can see my contraption of brackets in there now. To get THIS setup in there, I'd have to cut and hack quite a bit out of there to even wedge this kit up in there (which JEGS says I have the correct parts for my 1970 RR with 4speed and power drums).

Also - in the firewall support bracket AND firewall, which two holes do I orientate with?

SO yeah - I need to know if those brakets point up or down or how this puzzle fits together.

Sorry, I feel like I am starting to be a pest....

Looks pretty straight forward.

The booster bracket bolts to the firewall under the hood, and the rod passes through the firewall and connects to the brake pedal, just like a manual brake set-up.

You may have to elongate the center hole in the original firewall stiffening plate, which goes between the booster bracket and firewall (ribs facing inward).

I made a new stiffening plate for mine. I didn't want to cut the original plate.

Gotcha....but the mystery is that gold mounting hardware you see bolted to my booster.

How does it orientate? Do they pointup or down, and how on earth are you guys fitting them up in there? (see my interior pedal shot)

The gold booster brackets mount under the hood, NOT under the dash. The linkage arm passes through the firewall and bolts to the pedal. This arm is the only part of the assembly under the dash.
