The 69 model and the 70 are different, if it matters to you.
1970 model:
Big stripe..7" space..3/8" small stripe 3/8".
Also keep in mind that the stripes do NOT run straight across the trunklid, but actually follow the trunklid edge, which comes to a point in the center. Pull up a photo to see what I mean.
1969 model is the same, but the stripe is 6 3/4" wide. In both cases, the side stripes run downward at an angle, with the bottom of the stripes centered through the side marker light.

Thanks! There was a 70 Charger I recently saw and I should have taken meauserments. I did notice the "V" angle on the decklid which I never knew about before. This a street/strip, non-original build so I'm not sure if I'm worried about the "V", but I did want the correct width/spacing. Thanks again for your help.

Why choose paint? The time it takes to mask and paint will certainly be more than to simply order the $150 stripe.

The decals don't seem as durable as paint in my opinion. They start to fade/discolor, chip/peel and show smudge marks over time.

got my stripe for under $70. Put it on myself in about 30-40 minutes. Not sure if there are any measurements since the car has probably had body work and such. I just centered mine on the marker lights and went from there. If need be I guess I can go measure the thickness when I get home for you.

I had the same though about preferring paint too, except after I had already spent the money and bought the "500" stipe kit...
On the bright side its giving my paint guy a nice template to use to paint the stripe.

They usually do after 40 years.Ive seen original stripes outlast the paint and metal on these cars and the new 3M stuff is ten times better.Your car,do whatever you want with it

I've recently seen two B-body cars with stripes that weren't nearly "40 years" old and they weren't in "perfect" shape. I realize the brand of the stripe and care/use of the vehicle comes into play. But you're right, it is my car so I can't wait to have it painted on!!!

The stripe on my one of my 70's is painted on. Some else painted it on in the late 70's early 80's when it was re-painted. The stripe follows the trunk leading edge like it is supposed to. Been like this 20+ years before I ever owned it.

Does anyone know if the factory stripes were Matt black or Glossy on a 69? Making some for a buddy and need to know...

Mine was painted on 20+ yrs ago in black semi- gloss, still looks fantastic. My main stripe is also slightly (maybe an inch and further back) wider than the standard 70 but that was my call. IMO the semi gloss really sets off nicely from the very glossy blue on my car but the choice between gloss and semi probably depends more on the car color and whether the car is/will be garaged. Semi to me works best because the rear quarter panel "shoulder" doesn't get lost in pictures. But Gloss would probably look better on a color like Y1 Yellow. You clean up the semi-gloss with Windex.

FWIW, I did not flollow the trunk, I went straight across the trunk from one side to the other and think it looks better, but opinions vary

They are like a satin finish...
