There's a variety of options out there, depending on how much you want to spend, or how much you want to tune. You can go from EZ-EFI for a chunk of change, but it self tunes. Or you can go with Megasquirt for a few hundred, but you have to tune it yourself. There's also the Ford EFI system some of us are working on that should be cheap and fairly well tuned already. Basically, the more plug and play it is, the more it will cost.
If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

for carb guys - EZ EFI - like Dragula said - hands down. My tunnel ream starts right up , gets 21 more horses then carbs, and gets more mileage. It's a bolt on and go system, like I said - for carb guys - if you want to tinker with laptops, dynos and tuners, then the megasquirt and others are for you, but I dont think carb guys are in that category. I can adjust everything I need right in the seat, and drive!

Throttle body EFI isn't what I would call "best" when taking EFI.
If I were going to use throttle body EFI, I wouldn't pop of the EZ EFI, way cheaper boneyarding the parts off OEM setups.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

I've just this passed weekend got my megasquirt'ed 440 running, idling, and am in the process of accel tuning. It does everything I could ever want and more. Knock sense/retardation, controls timing (something not all efi systems can accomplish), multiple outputs and inputs (independent EGT probes, cooling e-fan control, etc), flex fuel options, boost control, NO2 control, launch control, and the list goes on.
If you've got the time and really want to understand the exacting sciences behind fuel injection, check out megasquirt. If you just want something to come in a box and slap it on and have it run OK, give something else a try.

The FAST system is a lot better than you would think, and I have the time slips from carbed to efi to show it. System is everything they claim it is. If your a carb guy, and want waaaay better drivability, this is the system to get....
I also have a full FAST system on my Cuda, and I have to tell you, putting the EZ efi can be done in a day....Had it all tuned on the first drive. Works well, so go ahead, and morph some factory parts togather...Love those posts on here.
