We have a wobbling balancer on a 360. It is the one that came with the 360 Commando crate engine bought some years back. He has another balancer that is made different, so how do you determine if it is compatible with a 360? I think the other is from a 318.

I scrolled down to the topic about the 340/360 damper question and clicked on the link showing the pics. These LOOK like the two pictured as compatible, although diff in appearance, but are there any numbers or methods to really know?

Did you go to the 360 damper picture on this page? http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/smallblock/5.html
either of the 2 pictured for the 360 are compatable with the 360. There may be one offset bolt hole on one or the other but it is no big deal to file it out as 5 out of the 6 will line up.

Yes, thanks, that is the link I mentioned in the above post. So these were both used on an external balance? Dont use any bolt holes anyway as it is a race only application.

Both of the balancers pictured serve the same function but go about it in different ways, one style adds weight to externally balance while the cavity in the other style removes the same amount of weight 180° opposite.

Notice the location of the keyway in relation to the weight/cavity.
