Seems like everyone is putting solid rollers in the same bucket. This is not the case...

There are roller profiles that fit a specific need. Some are very aggressive and require more valve spring load at a given lift. There are also lobe profiles that have nice opening and closing ramps that don't need the same spring. For example, I've been using Comp Cams extream street roller profiles with very good luck. They don't require a huge spring and I find that they rarely need ajusting.

You might try and get fancy with a high ratio rocker, like a 1.7 to give the lift with a mild lobe, but go with a reputable cam company and match every thing up properly.
Big cube strokers with low rpm can get away with this very easily. I have run a 1.75 rocker with a .590 mopar flat tappet to 5800 rpm. Worked just great, with .688 gross lift.

What do you guys think about running a Hyd Roller Cam and solid roller lifters? This way the profile means more manageable spring loads but the RPM benefit of a solid lifter. The cam does not know the difference. I also get concerned about getting enough oil on the lifter axles at idle.
