What kind of extensions or tips should I consider using with electric exhaust cut outs? I prefer to have something not angling straight down to minimize dust and fumes. Ideas please.

I don't run any tip on mine. Dougs 3 inch electric on TTI 3 inch exhaust on a 68 Road Runner.

An extension or tip would be visible and I like the hide-away look. I have no issue with fumes or dust. The outlet just points out nearly level with the ground and works perfect. The pressure of the exhaust just blows straight out and no fumes remain, even at idle.

If you do want something showing then Summit has about 50 types and styles to choose from.

Thanks 68X426. I want to keep it stealthy as well. I thought that a tip or extension may help protect from added debris or crud from getting tossed up into the sealing portion of the cut out.
Also, to direct the dust and fumes outward rather than downward.

What kind of ground clearance do you have and are you running an X-pipe?

I like the way these enhanced the sound( kind of smoothed and intensified it like horns, trumpets etc)and directed the blast out to the side.

You can see them from the side if you are low enough.

...but not if you are standing nearby. They are the lowest point on the car though.

There's nothing stealthy about cutouts.

I agree. I thought they were juvenile until I drove DennisH's car around with them at Hot August Nights. The crowd loved them, and so did I.

The crowds tend to appreciate the hot rod with 3" straight pipe too. It does get a little annoying on the highway but the turbos change the tone of it a bit, especially when they spool.

What you do may well depend on where you locate your cut-outs and what under body obstructions are nearby.

On my Cuda, the cut-outs pointed right at the frame rail/crossmember joint. Rather that put a turndown tip on it, I just tacked a small piece of metal to the intersection and curved it down. It protected the frame and floorboard from the heat, got the exhaust from under the car without blowing up a lot of dust and didn't show at all.

Extensions after the cut-outs will noticeably change the sound.

Master, again and still
