I'm redoing the interior of a 74 gold duster, and noticed some of the plastic panels have chalked. Is this repairable or just sand and repaint? Was this a coating from the factory?

Most of the plastic trim that I have restored for customer cars has a grain or texture to it, very little of the plastic trim is smooth. I have been able to repair cracks and missing pieces with a special product to repair plastics and then if they need a grain texture I have a few different things that I do to copy the factory textures/grains and I and my customers have been happy with the results. All of the p[lastic trim has the color mixed in with the plastic when it was made. After all the repairs are finsihed and the texture is put back onto the part, it then is sprayed with a plastic adheasion permotor then sprayed the correct interior color.
If you have any other questions, let me know. Gary
