A couple of weeks ago I picked up a 84 rampage that could be a direct connection rampage. But some thing don't ad up, like tire size listed on the door and a few other things. So the 5 speed makes noise running out of gear and the old owner said it would lock up at times shifting into 3rd. I was wondering how to determine witch trany is in is truck. from what I found on line it would be a 465 or the 525 if it is a direct connection rampage.

Thanks George..

Can't help with the trans ID, but more pics of the Pacer would be nice.

Is there a tag under one of the bolt heads holding the end plate of the transaxle in place?

The vin and fender tag last 6 digits are 357415.

I did find some numbers on the under side of trans where the half shafts attach, it is (4295481) and then (cavity 3) also (05111 * 84)
Do these mean anything?

The ID tag is on the diff cover down by the dogbone mount. Take some brake cleaner and rags with you. They are usually all mucked over. My guess is you are going to have a 465. I you need one and can't find locally, I have both a 465 and 525 sittin out in the shop.

I wouldn't have ever looked there, thanks. It is a A525
I'll see if I can find one around here but don't be surprised if I send you a message. I removed the cover on the end of the trans and found a broken sync ring.

thanks george

Don't forget to try www.car-part.com I've had good luck finding local stuff with them.

I am having no trouble finding used transmissions in salvage yards the only problem is they don't record what it is just what it came out of. So they don't know if it is a 525 or 465. Some do record the final drive ratio in the 260 to 280 range. mine has a 387 gear ratio so I not sure wath the final would be.

George.
