They won't last as long with a spool, it scrubs the tire and the side wall doesn't give like a slick.
I second that, after swapping to a spool my last set of M/T's got finished off pretty quick. I run regular street tires then swap when I drive to the track now. I will say I've got quite a few street miles and passes out of my Hoosier pro drag radials, I even bought them used at a X275 race

Good info here, I have always run the et street bias plies, but making the switch to radials for better street handling. I will say I'm not impressed with street grip, but I've only had the car out in the cold a few times...

Just pulled this thread up and realized it was mine from a few years ago. The ET streets are still in great shape, but they haven't seen many street miles, as I drive on street tires for the most part and just put the ET Streets on for track days. To further skew the results, the car has seen less than 20 passes in the past two years. Now that I think about it, I might throw them on just to go with the "strip" part of the Street / Strip look for a while, as they're mounted on black steelies (the car now rides on black spoked torque thrust style wheels). Edit: Oh, and by the way, the car dead-hooks with them (255/60's) and 60's @ 1.63.

I bought 295/55 ET Street Radials for the Road Runner in 2011, I've driven them for three Drag Weeks, including driving the car from Indiana to Kansas and back in 2011. Total milage is probably about 5000 miles, probably 40-45 passes total. Also driven a few times in some pretty heavy rain and on wet roads, albeit cautiously and with some pucker factor by the driver, I never had any wet traction problems. With smaller (235/70) T/A radials on the front, the car drives nicely on the street. The tires are now almost down to the wear indicators. I do short burnouts to conserve the tires. Hook is OK, but my chassis setup is basically stock (crap), so my 60 foots are about 1.7X running about 11.5X @120+.
