If you decide to go with a packed straight-through design then go with the Dynomax Ultra-Flo instead of the Magnaflow for the simple fact they tend to be much less. I run two 3" Ultra-Flos on my B block and only paid $80 each for them (the fully welded non S/S type). I love the Magnaflow too, don't get me wrong, but the Dynomax's are cheaper.

I see from your profile that you are in your 20s... same here, and I would be willing to bet your won't think the Dynomaxs are loud enough.

What I'm looking for is the nasty raspy sound...without the crack of a glasspack. The magnaflow seems to have that from the sound of youtube vids, but i cant find any good ultraflo videos.

Thats exactly what I like about tha magnaflows on my 440 cuda. At idle or cruise is just a good deep rumble, tame yet muscular. Step on it and the thing really barks! Very raspy (in a good way) compared to the dynomaxes on my previous 440 cuda.
And they are glasspacks--you can look right through them! Never been a fan of chambered muffs, makes no sense to slam your exhaust against a solid wall and make it change direction.

If actual flow is not an issue then the flowmasters are for you. The spintechs sound excellent and not glass pack at all from all the ones I have heard. The magnaflows are probably the best bet from what it sounds you are looking for.

I bought the spintech pro-streets and love them. They are loud but such a great sound. My favorite clip is the Lingenfelter GTO on youtube.com

i started using the thrush welded mufflers on a couple of my cars. they are not quite as loud as flowmasters, yet have that sweet "canny" sound at idle. they also don't seem to have near as much resonance in the car as flows. and at $38.00 each at the local chain auto parts store, ya can't beat 'em.
