I`ve read that a wide lobe-angle 112/114 is the best choice.
But what about advance or retard C/L to move around-finetune the set-up?
Same as N/A engines?
I`m planning on a B&M 174 on a 383 probably 7 or 8 lb.s boost. Streetcar,auto,3.55.rear/3,600lbs.
Whats worked for others?
It has a 484 MP.hyd.110c/l. in it now.
Was thinking maybe .528 MP. solid 112 c/l.

I think the mp528 would be a good choice for you. The 'big' summit cam would probably also be decent, I think it's also on a 112 or 114 lsa.

I used the Summit 488 cam in my old s/c'd 440. Worked very well. I'd work much better I'd think than the MP 484.

OK,Thanks.

So yes on the .528MP solid.

What about the degreeing to move around the power OR compensate for say/// more compression than ideal, converter stall/traction etc?????????
383 has KB pistons w/9.25cr/ iron 452 heads.
Have`nt measured actual compression ratio, but assuming it is 9.25. Is that too much for 6--8 lbs. of boost?
What would be safe?

Built LOTS of engines,,, I`ve never messed with forced induction.
Built both of these cars engines/body/paint tune etc.......
Mine is the Cuda`,brothers Valiant.
So only new to blowers.
Blower is going on 68` Satelitte 383 street toy.

Don't assume your compression ratio. Measure and calculate it, you can't afford to be wrong when you're boosting. You can degree the cam and it'll have the safe affect as n/a. But if you're retarding the cam to bleed off cylinder pressure, that defeats the purpose of using boost to increase cylinder pressure.

I ran 6psi on a 440 that had 150-160 cranking pressure. Upped it to 8 but never got a pass on the car. All I can say is MAKE SURE youalways have your eletric fuel pump on under WOT. DAMHIK.
