Jamie what are you going to use for a shifter?

That looks sweet, I'm in for one especially with a change in rear gears to 4:30's come spring time .

John,
Thanks! We made a custom 5 spd HURST shifter and made linkage to clear crossmember and floor. I don't have any pics with the shifter and linkage on. I will take pics at PRI and post them when we get back.

Are the 3 different retainer OD's going to be available for this unit as well?

We are not using an integrated shifter. If you do that, you are just gonna have another tremec that doesn't fit. It isn't a stock shifter because it is 5 speeds. It is stock arrangement. The shifter and linkage will be part of the package when the transmission is purchased. We are making a 4.35" bearing retainer and a 4.80" bearing retainer. Sorry, no 5.125 OD size. Just not enough call for one. We have an adapter ring available for the 5.125" application though.

Hey look at that... Thanks jbc426. I'll get the hang of this computer thing yet! Forgive the bearing retainer bolts missing and sidecover bolts missing. Note the 5 bolt bearing retainer. That covers a tapered roller bearing with an O Ring seal. We went 5 bolt for increased bearing load capacity.

Wow! Beautiful work. I can hardly wait to "shake it on down into overdrive" with my 3.54's and cruise at 70mph to Hot August Nights or Mopars at the Strip in Las Vegas.

Looks great, Jamie! I am in Florida right now but I probably won't make PRI this year, if I do I will look you up!

Once again an awesome product from Passon Performance
So are 1-4 in the side cover with fifth and reverse on the lower(reverse)selector shaft like a Nash/Richmond box?

Why would you do that??? They built the 18 spline because the 23 spline wouldn't hold up to the power, weight, and traction.

But that was with 40? year old materials, I would think today that would be less of an issue, and Passon runs a business that caters to customer driven demands, so if there really is enough demand, why not a 23 spline in the future?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I really can't answer anything about the CF clutches. In my opinion, they are 2nd or 3rd choice. I never liked them. Just my opinion though. To each his own.

Did you ever compare the size of the teeth on a 23 spline to an 18 spline gear? The thickness at the root of the tooth is much larger and less prone to failure. The diameter of the drive pinion is also able to take more abuse as well.

Finally a 5 speed option that doesn't require hacking up the car, and coming from a vendor with a great reputation too. I know they won't be cheap but if the price comes in reasonable the demand will be very high.

So the front bearing will be a 307 or something similar?...or will they be tapered rollers? What rear bearing is in there?

Very cool. It'll be a while before I can afford something like this, but it is awesome you came up with it. I'm sure it is well worth the wait.
Just curious on weight compared to an old one? I have the 23 spline in my car and could care less if I have to change to 18 spline. It just plain makes sense to use the 18 spline. I'm sure his investment costs are already high, so maybe if these sell well he will switch, but once again, why settle for second best.
Can't wait to Wonder if I'll bust my knuckles w/ my bench seat
