I recently upgraded my 70 Charger to headlight relays. Worked fine when ignition was in 'off' position. But when I turn on the ignition ('run') the headlight doors open and the lights come on even when the headlight switch is in the off position!

What could be the cause for this? bad headlight door relay? It seems the dimmer always gets power when ignition is turned on through the light green wire (and turns on the relays) - no matter if the headlight siwtch is in on or off. The only connection I see is the headlight door relay - dark blue from ignition and light green to dimmer. The only problem is that these wires shouldn't touch each other in the relay - could a faulty relay the cause for my problems? weird thing is that both the relay and the switched worked fine before I started working on the car (upgraded headlights, relay upgrade, etc.)

Sounds like the problem is the 12V lead that triggers the relay. Wherever you tapped it in is switched ON with the iginition switch..

Just my $0.02...

headlight switch triggers the relay (light green cable). But I never touched the headlight relay..and I only removed and installed the headlight switch - didn't tamper with it.

strange...

I'll remove the cables from the relay and check for voltage to the pins tomorrow.
