Just bought a bad ass set of forged Arias 12:1 popups on rods off craigslist for $40!

I checked the rod part number, it's 1737692 which is for a 383.

Two questions:

Can I use these pistons on 440 rods?

Are these rods forged or cast?

Thanks and Happy Turkey Day!

The rods are forged, like all Mopar rods..

Sure you can put the pistons on 440 rods... But you'll need a 426 wedge block for them to fit the bore... & then because of the C/H your 12-1 pistons will net you around 8-1 C/R...

perfect time to add a supercharger . The CR will be excellent (for that app) and the pistons are forged...

Measure the pistons, those rods were also used on the 400 block.
Bore: 383 4.25"
400 4.342"

Good point.. I normally know what I'm buying so I didn't think about the fact assumptions were being made..

FWIW, 4.25 is also the stock bore of the 426W. But don't sell the 383 short - many folks here make good use of them. At $40 you should easily make that back if you don't use the pistons yourself.
