All 3 of my 70's & every other 66-70 I have had always had the large square flip type buckles. The is one of the reason I have been asking for pics of more proof of what they look like. These just seem too generic to me. I could be wrong. It would be cool to add them. Just not for what he wants for them now.

From the pictures I have seen, they are definately correct "deluxe" belts for 70. They were even offered on superbirds.
I would look at it this way, what is cooler a real hemi charger or a 318 charger with a hemi in it? What I mean by that is yes, you could probably put together some sort of buckle/seat belt that would work for you, but they will never be the real thing. Being your car is optioned for them, I would jump all over them IMO because you will never find another set. Just my $.02
Let me know if you decide to pass on them. I won't bid against you as I would like to see you get them, but I would not mind putting them in a superbird I have if you decide not to.

If these are corect for 70. Would all of the other belts matched these deluxe style rear shoulder belts with the deluxe belt option?

I was looking for a black set for a '71 'Cuda that was supposed to have them a few years ago - Great Lakes NOS said they had a set of (green?) ones from a '70 Grand Coupe but they never materialised. There was a red 383 Challenger R/T "dealer demo" on Ebay that had them, I'll see if I can find the pics. GG's '70 Cuda book shows .1% for US spec. 'Cudas (17 +/- 8 produced)
I just saw this Dan. Wow, Again! That's the first I've ever heard of anyone actually seeing an E body set. I'd be THRILLED to see that Challenger picture if you can find it!!

If you had a car that was coded for them and you couldn't find a set, It doesn't look like it would be very hard to make a set from a pair of front seat shoulder belts. I was just looking at the pictures in the Factory Service Manual (which are the only E body rear shoulder belt pictures I've seen anywhere), and most of the parts look the same as the front shoulder belts. Both ends of the belt are the same, shoulder bolt is the same, & plastic bolt cover is the same. The spot to drill the bolt hole is marked on the backside of the factory interior panels, no special grommet like the B bodies use. Length of the Belts may need to be adjusted, which would require a good sewing machine and some attention to detail so that you match the stitching pattern. You'd also need to install a metal snap on the belt for storage. Metal snaps are readily available, and the FSM has nice pictures for reference. ECS can make the tags for the belts, but I've no idea what #'s should be on them. Maybe Dave or Dwight know? Looks like the hardest thing to make would be the Reinforcement bracket that goes under the package tray. I'm sure someone could fabricate a couple of those with some effort, and if that fabricated part wasn't an exact OE match, at least it's the part that's out of sight under the package tray. So few people have even seen one that probably no one would notice if they were looking right at it. What do you guys think? Does this sound do-able? What #'s should be on the tag?

Looks like the auction ends in 1:20 minutes. It will be interesting to see what they end at.

Thanks for the pics EFI. And thank you all for the feedback. I learned alot that I did not know. I saw what they went for too. That is just crazy money to me for seat belts!!!! Oh well, I get them somehow, someday.... Even if i make my own.

Well it's too bad you didn't win the auction but think of it this way, you have a good idea now what thye look like and what needs to be done to install them. Now just find some buckles, fab up a few little parts and get someone to stitch the belts together. I think you will have a lot less in them in the end, just more time. If you do this to yours, you should consider making a kit that others can buy too. Just a thought. Love your charger BTW.
