This question has been asked many times and nobody seems to know.
I strongly suspect that a fully lightened B or RB for that matter (alum heads, headers, alum intake, alum WP, light weight starter, etc.) is LIGHTER than a fully dressed, all cast iron small block. It'd sure be nice to know for sure.

From moparts archive; 273-340 "A" V8 525
360 "A" 550
361-383-400 V8 620
413-426W-440 V8 670
So take a 383 and drop 40# for heads, 10# for water pump, 10# for intake and your at 560#, or close to stock 360 weight. Take that same weight off a 360 and you even further ahead of the game.
Thanks. That's something. What about headers compared to manifolds? and those numbers are interesting but hardly exact. Oh well, until someone actually measures the difference.....
Oh, and of course you'd be ahead with the same weight saving measures on a small block. The question here is can you make a big block weigh the same or less than a stock, all factory small block c/w with all accessories and I still believe the answer is yes.
