who runs these? How is it possible to run one? Even after raising the car a bunch it was still too close to the ground. I was unable to launch the car at the track in fear of contact.
IIRC these are 9" deep.
Im at the point of just pulling the pan and buying a 7 quart style.
Of coarse this will involving adding the holes for the swinging pickup, but I have learned over the years very few things are ready OOTB.

We have run these on our small blocks for years.

Before we had wheelie bars we shortened a few but no problems lately.

There certainly have been lots run on big blocks. Do you have really short front tires?

Bob, I've run into the same problem with the deep pan, even the standard 7" is to deep. Seem like the pan manufactures would look at the currant trend and see race or even street cars are not a foot off the pavement anymore. I'm either going to make another pan for the hemi or buy a Milodon#31161, I think that's the # and put a drag link tube thru it. Heck, I've shortend my 6" pan.

I've got one of those , I wouldn't waste my time putting it on my car, it would be dragging just setting still.

Yep thats the exact pan...
The newer ones produced for a while now have the square hole, my pan is round just like that....
My tires are 28" tall so they are above average in height.
That pan was a waste of effort in my opinion. Im sure guys make it work, but Im willing to give up capacity for ground clearance. I figured a 7 qt pan along with the 3 quart accumulator should be plenty.

It would probably be OK if the suspension is all jacked up, I modified my car for the tires to really tuck in for the "in the weeds" look.

I had that pan in my 71 Cuda in the 1980's. I put taller traction bar snubbers on the control arm so the nose couldn't drop to much otherwise it would scrape the oil pan on hard braking. I did not have it on the car for very long.

The pan in the photo is REALLY deep. I can't see where the holes are for the pickup but Milodon used to make a swinging pickup arm that went lower in the pan. So imagine the holes the same distance down from the main rail as current pans but the pan is an inch deeper. The "new" pans are shallower and the pickups flatter.

I ran one of those pans on my GTX for 2 passes... Could not hardly even tie the car down in the trailer, as I tightened the straps, the pan would scrap the trailer floor. Had to put a block of wood under the K frame to not crush the pan while going down the road.

When the 499 goes into my RoadRunner I will have to modify a dragster pan. A 7qt pan will hang to low for that car.

I have the drag link thru the pan Milidon pan on my Challenger. I drove it around on the street often back in the day.

Im wondering what are the other options for a oil pan for use with the external single line pickup Milidon pump.

Your not wrong, we have the "low profile" one # MIL31470. It's still the lowest part of the car!!
Any pictures of alternatives?
