I got the old one off. Getting ready to put the Moog K7041 on there and noticed that it did not look like the one that came off.
Now, I would not swear the one that was on there was the correct one. The old one's bushing spacer measures 2-1/8" and the new Moog measures 2-1/4" .

The old one has an "S" shape to it , where the new on is straighter.

Is the new Moog the correct one?

would you happen to know if the 7041 looks like the new one in the Pic?
Maybe I have a mispackaged part?

I believe it looks correct. Go to rockauto.com and look at their pics. THe actual shape between the end point won't matter--its the positioning of the end point that does. length and height.
The arms usually come with spacing washers but it sounds like your moog bushing is longer than the used one.

Will it fit in the K frame bracket? If not, is the bracket bent?

it will not fit in the bracket, but it looks like someone torqued it down to fit the shorter bushing. Guess I could expand it back.

You either expand it back (That would be best) or you shorten the new bushing (not-so-best)

Just did this on my '71 Challenger. The new Moog part is indeed a skosh shorter, but the Moog kit includes a washer/shim that you are to use along with an instruction sheet . The Idler Arm/Shim fit in the bracket perfectly. There were a couple of foam seals as well in the kit. Did you buy an Opened box? Perhaps these bits were missing in your part?

And in general, depending on the application the idler may require that spacer/shim to be either above or below the idler... Or possibly two shims are used to get the geometry correct between the idler, mounting ears and the rest of the steering gear....You want the drag link to be as level as possible...
