A freind of mine has a 2005 Dodge Neon. The dealership wants $60.00 for a Key? I looked at the key,and I do not see any evidence of it having any chip. Are they pulling his chain on this? It looks no different than my ram key, except for the plastic molded dodge logo peice.

It's a dry heat
if it's black plastic, I think it's a regular key

if it's grey plastic it's a chip key - and requires programming, thus the expense

Look up on the web how to program it. Dodge may be different from gm but I looked it up for my wives olds and to program it was simple. I don't remember exactly but it was something like turn the ignition on and off a couple times leave ign on open glove box open driver door turn ign off then back on. No special tools needed.

Has skim keys. Dealer programs in the key with the DRBIII. Also has a skim code the dealer gets from dealer connect to gain access to program. Good idea to have all of your keys with you when this is done to make sure they work.

Hey Pete..
Kim's '06 Durango has to have the very same thing done to it, Reprogrammed. It's been the root cause of all our woes.. It doesn't even unlock the doors any more. Service writer states it's a simple procedure. I just wish they would have had done this in the very beginning. This is my 3rd trip back to the dealership for the very same original problem.

Good luck.

We deal with this all the time. He may want to try this; Have a couple of keys cut at the local hardware store for a few bucks each. Then remove the lower column cover and tape or glue the original key to it where the car will run. Sometimes it seems that the key can be just about anywhere under the key switch and sometimes it wants the key in a particular spot.
Anyway, you can have as many keys as you want cut anywhere you want and they will work.

Master, again and still
