Which is the better choice?
What are the pros and cons of each?

Maximum hp, maximum torque, very good all around driveability? Tunnel ram with 2 four barrels every time. Dave

My single 4bbl, 850 Holley out ET'ed my Six Pack by 4 tenths. When you think about it, the Six Pack came off the line on the center 2bbl (300cfm) where the 850 came off with 850cfm.

Depends on the build of the rest of the motor. If it's say a ~500hp street/strip 440, a single 4 could perform as just as good as a dual quad manifold(assuming your talking about something like the edelbrock ch-28, not a tunnel ram) or a 6-pack setup.

6-packs are nice but they are mainly bling/bragging rights. Yes they can perform well, but a well tuned/selected 4bbl could perform equally or better than a 6-pack. Same goes for a dual quad intake. More carbs does not necessarily mean better power, although it does mean more work to tune.

As per the org question, theres no doubt a dual 4 will hang out a six-pack in almost everyway, but im and I know alot of others that will run head to head with a single 4 most anyday.

Although Ive never heard how sixpackgut made out with his SP with the sheetmetal TR intake deal.

Even recently a mag did a comp. of the six-pack vs the large single 4 to see if the SP still had the azz to back up the shock of 3x2`s and I beleive the six-pack (not near oem stock carbs) but neither was the 4bbl still outdid the single just a bit.

Should of bought it instead of just looking but it wasnt a mopar specific mag.

If I didnt have so much in my SP deal id have 2-4`s but balh blah blah a single 4, airgap ect is as commom as...well whats under the hood of most every chrysler, ford or chevy...a single 4.

And really a dual 4 setup does not cost that much more then a single but you can sink alot in a SP setup. If the SP still didnt cut it I dont think QF and ProMax would be selling the parts they do for them.

But of course theres a reason I feel this way..

If we are talking about a stock set-up, street driven, you can't beat the six pack for driveability (cold start, road manners, mpg, and power). The factory dual quad setups are cold natured and tend to use more fuel, wot is great however.

When you start talking about after market intakes, carb options etc; sure you can out perform stock set-ups, and loose drivability in exchange for performance "sometimes".

In stock trim I prefer the sixpack, I have two currently and plan on adding a third. I was also planning on adding a crossram setup but it was for a road trip car and I've been thinking twice with fuel cost what they are.

I get 16.5 mpg if I drive sane with 3:54s in my GTX. I have heard 11 mpg with the 440 crossram.

The Edelbrock 2x4 set up offers awesome performance and eye appeal at half the price of a six pack set up. A single four will make as much as or more power (RPM or Team G?) but c'mon, single 4bbl V8s are EVERYWHERE.

so. they could be on to something.

id go dual quad if i had to choose one or the other. a 4 bbl will win for most levels of play. ages 12 and up. batteries not included. run with adult supervision.

The carbs are really just air and fuel mixers and if they do that properly it is the design of the intake manifold that has more bearing on what works the best. For all out power the factory six pack intakes will hold back power as will the factory Hemi 2X4 intake.
For streetability it is hard to beat the stock six pack setup and the factory Hemi 2x4 intake setup works nicely as well.
I've run both for 30 years now and currently my factory 2x4 Hemi setup makes my six pack look stupid at both the high rpm and the low rpm of the power range. They are both very street driveable though. I've spent lots of hours tuning the Hemi (but now that it's close to right it won't need anymore fiddling) the factory six pack calibration has run great right out of the box but there's probably a bit of power left on the table with tuning.

I love dual quads, ran them alot and never had any problems. I've never ran a six pac on a MoPar ever, so I can't judge...

I have never seen a comparison of the latest 440 Edelbrock dual quad int against the six pac.All of the old flat factory type intakes are way down on power as was shown in the recent Hot Rod mag tests. However it is my opinion that the newer Edelbrock might be the six pac's equal. It appears to be a dual quad Performer, much higher than the old stuff, dual plane with large runners.Edelbrock makes a very nice air cleaner to match too.Much cheaper too.

I agree (assuming the carbs are of adequate size)

You didn't tell them that your Hemi is a wicked fast 472! ..........not that I would know for sure seeing as how I haven't gone for a ride yet!

What kind of mods do I need to do for 1200cfm 440 Stroker? 440 stroker + cam? or just jet down the 1406 Edelbrocks I was leaning toward the CH-28 by Edelbrock for intake.

Edelbrock actually reccommends 2 600cfm carbs on the CH-28. On both my 440s I have used 2 500cfm carbs and it worked FANTASTIC. If a person already has a 600cfm Eddy carb I would buy one more and call it good. Alot of small block chevy guys run dual 600s on their eddy 2x4 set up and claim success. My 360 will run an OFFY 2x4 and dual 500s.

You jet the carbs to get proper air/fuel ratios. Putting two carbs on an engine doesn't necessarily mean that you will be jetting down. Likewise switching a carb from a smaller to larger engine doesn't necessarily mean you will be changing jets.

I would take the 2x4. I have the same. Run them the
first season and I canīt be more happy.
Tons of torque, great throttle response.
2x600cfm but still a little bit on the rich side.
I wouldnīt use the bigger jets Edl delivers with
the dual quad. I also do not like the comparison
of the different intakes. The cam should be grinded
to your specific needs. Mine is a solid flat tapped from
Scott Brown. Awsome power! And cheaper then the 2x3.
A friend of mine changed his 1x4 intake in his 68 charger
to a 2x4 and he said it was like putting in another engine.
Way better throttle response and awsome torque.

You need an exhaust gas analyzer to really get it dialed in. There is NO WAY that someone can tell you what jets to use with so little information.

In general the Edelbrocks are set up quite rich if they come with manual chokes, and quite lean if they are built with electric chokes.

A few months back I did a dyno shoot out and posted the results here. A single four M1 with QF 850 won making 670 horse, the Wieand tunnel ram with duel Edelbrock 650 made 656 horse and the sixpack did 648. This was on a 541 cube pump gas engine.

for a 541cui engine the ch-28 would be no good choice.
and lots depends on the cam. i do not think you
can compare 3 comlete different intakes with the same cam.
they all have different "needs". it canīt be more different.
a low rise dual quad and a tunnel ram.
what about the torque?
