I rode a lot of excellent comment about this camshaft ,
In How to build Max-Performance MOPAR Big Block
By Andy Finkbeiner.
I would like to use it in my 451 cid.
As per Andy recommandation this camshaft work with
Magnum manifolds and 3 inches pipes with impressive results.
This cam is mechanical with big lash and noise…
With todays technology I’m curious to know if this cam can made
hydraulic with the same performance…

Sure. If you look in the tech archives you'll find some dyno tests where I compared that cam to a similiar hyd cam.

Call Dwayne at Porter Racing Heads for a specific cam recommendation. He'll set you up with what you need.

I rode your book and I can say it's the best Mopar Performance literature for performance fans...

good cam. I didn't like the factory lash so I went tighter. .020/.022 sounded much better. ran great in a 10.5:1 440-6

The 509 MP hyd wont touch it, which idles way more rough....It pulls 6-8 more inches in vacuum too..
I love that ole 528 Cam... Very good cam, pulls great, idles great. Sounds very much like a stock Hemi cam.

Had the 509 in my old 340, and have the 528 in my 360. The 509 would barely idle down to 1000 in gear, but I can idle the 528 down to 750, yet is way stronger all the way across the board. Nice stick. I'd like to duplicate the profile of my 528/1.6 rocker on a roller stick. Adding the faster action of the roller would probably get me my 10 sec time slip.

The .528 definately makes more torque down low. My old truck was pulling the front wheels off the ground 6-8" leaving the line with that cam. The .509 ran strong too but not like that down low. Dave

the 528 is a great street/strip cam. Ran low 12's with it in my 360 Valiant. Perfect street manners and a TON of torque.

Andy,

It looks like that link to the cam test article is not correct anymore....looks like COMP cams has reorganized things. I also cannot find the article on Popular Hot Rodding. Are you aware of a good link that gets to this article? I rememeber reading it many years ago, and it is a great reference!

Dave

Comp has done something stupid with the cataloging of articles.

Here is the archived AndyF "Lobe-Ology" article:

- In addition to looking at the CompCams page, I looked here: Moparts Tech Archive.

- This gave me the old URL to AndyF's "Lobe-ology" article, so I copied/pasted that older URL into the "WayBack machine" at www.archive.org .

- That pulled up the archived versions of the article.

The articles are still on the Comp site, they just moved things around and broke the links. Now you have to find them manually because the link on Moparts just takes you to the main page. Typical internet stuff.

Get a hold of Dwayne (fast68plymouth on here) and he can get you a custom grind cam in a hydraulic that matches the mp .528.

Great News...
Actually my Charger 67
1/4 mile speed with
stock magnum cam and 2 1/4 exhaust
is 106.497 13.37 E/T
I wish with stock Magnum exhaust manifold
and 3.000 exhaust + .528 (hydraulic) gain some performance...
May be reaching the 12 second zone

what was done to the engine and heads to get 13.37 out of a stock cam? You should hit 12's.

Dude you want 2 tenths get a HOLLEY on that thing. That is probably the worst carb made. I picked up 2 tenths with a rebuilt 20 year old 750DP on my old 67 coronet by swapping out the eddy 750. No other changes were made. I bet by cam change and carb change you'll pick up 1/2 second. BTW the 528 w/ the 1.6s will be more like 563. I'd go tight with the lash...something like .020/.022. I set mine by the cam card and it was too clacky for me. I tighten it up and it made a big difference and it pulled well from off idle to around 5500. Good street cam. You'll like it.

Don't know what you've tried so far, but I think that with a different intake and carb, improved driving technique, you could get into the 12s without a cam or exhaust change.
