Since have not had a small block in an A body in a long time, and have nothing to compare it to, I need to find out where it should be centered/offset to the factory location.

There are no motor mounts, so I am using a motor plate. Could someone give me a measurement from either side (or better yet both) of the inner frame rail to the center of the crankshaft bolt? Looking for a measurement from a 67-76 A body. I thought the motor was offest because of the steering but can't remember. I am sure measurements may vary because not all came off the production line exactly. Or if you can take a measurement from a better reference point that woud be fine too, but seems that the frame to the bolt would be the easiest/most accurate.

Thanks in advance!

Brian

Should be 2 1/2 inch off set. Measure from center of crank shaft to frame rail on each side, should see adjust too 2 1/2" to the passenger side. Roughly 5 1/4" from center of crankshaft to top of the K frame as far as height.

Wow, that seems like a lot Bob. Not arguing, just seems like a ton to take to the other side. The motor plate put the height right where you said it should be. I was able to get it over 2" so far, I can probably get another 1/2".

I would defiantly have the headers on when locating any engine.....
If I didnt have the headers, I would wait till I had them.

The further the motor is moved to the right side the more weight is on that side, same thing with the drivers position

Just looked on TTI's web site, they have some dimensions
From there web site..
Quote:

Factory Engine Location Specifications: K-members are not all identical and the dimensions must be checked to ensure proper fit. Check your engine location prior to installation of your TTI Headers. TTI Headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications. If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly. If necessary, place shims between the insulator assembly and the K-frame mounting pad to achieve the proper dimensions. Shim kits and engine mounts can be purchased from Schumacher Creative Services of Seattle, WA (206) 364-7151.

and..
Quote:

67-76 "A"-body / 66-74 "B"-body / 70-74 "E"-body applications: From the center of the crankshaft to the top of the K-frame, the correct distance is 5-1/4”. The engine is also offset towards the passenger-side. Measure from the center of the crankshaft to each frame rail. The difference should be 2-1/2”.
