I have a 727 trans leaking from the kickdown/shift shaft seal. What is involved with replacing the seal. This is on a rebuild done in march. The builder said to bring it back, but he is 2.5 hrs. away. Thanks, Matt

you can drop the pan, remove the valve body or you can buy a $20 tool off of ebay and not have to drop the pan.

In case you do not know how to click a link...

This is how bad mine was..

my linkage will most likely differ a little.

Cleaned off.

Tool ready to remove seal...

Clamp to put pressure on seal while I turn the threads into the seal

After the tool takes hold of the seal you put the bolt into the top of the tool to pull the seal out....

click the picture for a larger view.

here is the picture of the seal removed

A closer look...

The new seal

New seal being installed with tool and clamp.

Linkage re installed. Check and top off fluids.
