Anbody using SSBC brakes? I just bought a setup new from a guy(11" rotors). I already have discs on my 64 Polara, but they don't work the best... they're mushy and I can't bleed any more air out of them. I think it's because I'm using 74 Dart brakes, a 76 Cordoba mc for discs, but the original 64 prop. valve. I want to know what I need to do to install the BBC kit. It comes with a new mc and prop. valve, but the valve is just the single line in/line out one like Jegs sells (which I also already have on the car). Do I need to replace the original prop/distribution valve? Any tips anybody can give would be greatly appreciated!

64 didn't have a prop valve , it was a single cylinder master and it applied all brakes at once. if that's what you have in there it has to be part of your problem in not being able to bleed it .

That's very interresting John... I didn't know the 64's didn't have a prop valve. Is this true of any old car with a single mc? If so, does it also mean the dual mc made a prop valve necessary? So, is the brass block nothing more than a distribution block? Very interesting. Who says you can't teach an old fart new tricks? Or is that DOG???

Yes it's just a distribution block, they were only distribution blocks prior to 1970 on most all body platforms, not sure about some C barges and the Imperial.

When they went to the dual master setup the new dist valve was basically a switch that tripped the brake idiot light when one circuit, front or rear, lost pressure due to a leak or failure in the master cylinder.

So when a dual mc and discs are installed, the prop valve goes in the line to the rear brakes to adjust the pressure down for the rears which in turn adjusts pressure up for the fronts... right?
