Upper radiator hose collapsing when engine cools down. I run a Be Cool overflow can. Very little coolant ever collects in the can. How do, or can I make this a coolant recovery tank that I could fill 1/2 way and have the radiator draw out of it when it cools? It does not seem vented?

It looks like this, but w/ a petcock at the bottom (major error in this pic)

I have that exact same catch can, mine has the hose fittings on the top and bottom, same as the pic. You are supposed to hook the overflow hose to the bottom barb, and the top fitting is the vent. If you hook to the top, and the bottom is closed, then that is what's causing your issue.

Thanks. This is how it was set-up when I bought the car. What are you using for a vent at the top?

Thanks. I set it up the way it should have been. I used a drain valve for a Sears air compressor as a vent.

I just left the barb fitting open on top, the a/c drain you used will work fine, but leave it open. A catch can is suppsoed to be vented, so that the coolant can move in and out freely as the radiator pressure changes.
