so where do you get these blocks?

Mopar dealer. From what I hear, Mopar has the rights to the iron blocks. Zippy might be able to clear this up.

By the way, with FHO Stage V heads, FHO stage V intake and carbs and a small solid roller cam, I was able to get 658HP on pump gas out of a 472 (4.25 bore X 4.15 stroke)

My issue with WP blocks is not appearance but in that they are so heavy.

what are the specs on your cam, and what pistons are you running?

World does make the iron blocks but only sells them to Mopar which then distributes them to the selling dealers. My guess is that there is some kind of contract agreement between World and Mopar for the cast iron blocks. You can only buy the aluminum blocks through World. If your in So.Cal, you could stop by Bob Mazzolini Racing in Riverside and check one out or buy for that matter. Call Bob at 951-787-8783. He is an easy guy to deal with.

Hey Mick,

I had a custom grind done by Lunati. I'll have to dig through the files to find the card but off the top of my head its .592 on the intake (1.6 Landy rockers) and around .580 on the exhaust (1.55 Landy rockers), 110 lobe seperation, 242@.050, 268 at .005 lift. Again, I'm just guessing. I used Isky Tool Room Gold springs with 450 over the nose and 190 on the seat. It still revved to 6500rpm and was still making power (we figured 6500 was good enough for a street motor so we stopped there. It'll never see this again in it's life time). The torque peak was on the high side of the rpm range (5400) and ended up at 585, but it stays above 500 right from 3200 all the way up to 6500.

The pistons are CP's 9.5 comp (actual compression is 10.3). I got the numbers for these too. The bore is actually 4.255.

Well does one want nice thick block, or thin light weight? Cant have both...
So in my eye's its a benefit and a by product of strength.
Im just saying that the weight of the block is a prime example of meat added in key area's more or less.
I know there is CNC programs that will lightning the blocks a considerable amount.
Its nice to know one can build a blown and injected engine with a block that is cheaper than a OE cast block that strength is not even comparable. I would say these blocks would have no trouble handling 1400+ hp no problem.

i have a mechanical roller, (no lifters though, need those), that is 250/250 @ .050 and .620 intake .600 exhaust 112 LSA, centerline of 110. if/when i put an engine together i will go ahead and give that a try.

actual compression of 10.3 sounds good, i was going to go for about the same.

that makes nice power. with a 540, i should easily be between 7-750.
