Please turn off the caps. It's not nice to yell. What pistons, what cam and what compression ratio? Close to stock engine no way near the 11s.

You would have to put out at least 395 hp to run an 11.99 with that weight car.

this almost seems like a trick question..you don't mention what compression your good pistons are or the size of your hyd.cam...however, i would still have my doubts that you could get it to go 11.0's on motor with the info giving.

I figure you need about 450 at the rear wheels to go 11.00 at that weight

Possible, yes, if EVERYTHING was spot on.

A couple of members here have gone high 10s with pretty basic 440s with 509 cams in dusters. I think they were using Eddy heads. If you can get the 906s to flow in the 270+ range, i think you could do it. Everything would have to be right though. Do whatever you can to get parasitic hp losses down. You would need about 500 hp to run 11.00 at your weight. If you just want to squeak in with an 11.99, that's not too difficult.

I'm going to guess the owner is saying to you-

"Runs 11s on the motor and 10s on the bottle."

Not necessarily 11 flat and 10 flat.

I want my fair share

..yea i agree, after reading it agian i think thats what he is saying..if so.. high 11's are well within your reach..10's...maybe a little tough..you would really need to have a efficient, well working chassis, and a fair amout of the juice.

Well...for years I ran 11.90's in a 3420lbs 68 Barracuda (weight is without me) 3.55 gears, auto trans with 3000 stall TC.

Engine was a 440 with iron 906 heads, Comp Cams 282S solid cam, TM7 intake, Holley 800, 1-3/4 CPPA headers through full exhaust. The cranks and rods were stock, and the pistons were the heavy TRW 8.8:1 slugs. No trick parts whatsoever.

With today's parts (light pistons, more compression, aluminum heads) think it would go 11.70 or better.

11.o's would be tough w/ a 509 cam.....buttttt I have seen 509 440's run 11.60's in B-bodys w/ not much work and 11.20's in a-bodys so I'll say yeah. Not sure how long it's gonna last with a 225 shot

We had the exact combo in a 64 Plymouth and in good air it ran 11.70's. Weight was 3355 w/o driver.

...If you're going to hit it with a 225 shot, you might want to go ahead a replace the main bolts with studs. At a 300 shot I didn't hurt anything, but all the main caps showed sign's of dancing, when I was up grading to a better head.

BTW that's hardly an almost stock motor. I wouldn't consider a ported headed/intake big carb, headers, h-beams, good pistons...509 cammed motor almost stock. Almost stock would be a stock bore 9:1 cast piston, non-ported iron head, small cam, intake and 750dp an almost stock motor.

I would say prepped right it should do that with no problem The key would be the whole package not just the engine Lot of time lost in poor suspension and poor conv etc

I'll say 11 flat is a reach on motor, but possible. I knew a local bracket guy who ran a very-near stock Magnum spec 440 in a Duster to very consistent 11 teens. He claimed to run a "small MP solid cam" and no other mods aside from induction and headers. Keep in mind that this was a well thought out bracket car, so the converter and rear gear were part of the combination and the chassis didn't give up any E.T.

A 3440 lb Duster is a heavy Duster IMO, especially if it is a 1st gen. My '71 Duster bracket car weighs 2830lb with an 8 pt cage. It's all steel except for a fiberglass hood and still has all the original window glass.
