Hello to all. I am in the process of installing a Flaming River tilt steering column in my 72 Ralley Challenger. I am having trouble with the conversion of the factory "Directional Signal Switch Connector" to the Flaming River connector. I am able to account for all the factory wires except for a pink and red one. One of these wires will connect to the FR "Turn Signal - Power (main) terminal and the other to the FR "Hazard" terminal. I do have a Mopar wiring diagram for my car, following the pink wire (larger gauge than the red one) back from the factory connector it goes to what looks like a 2 terminal connector. Off this connector is a black-tr wire which goes to the fuse block. Following the red wire back from the factory connector it goes to the directiional signal flasher. 2 wires come off this flasher; black, which goes to the fuse block and a red-tr, which is tied to the radio connector. Off the radio connector is an orange wire which goes back to the same side of the fuse block as the black wire and to the instrument lights. What I am trying to determine is which of the 2 wires, red or pink, connects to the FR Turn Signal - Power (main). I realize that the red wire comes off of the directional signal flasher and seems the logical choice but the pink wire is a larger gauge and would handle more power. I talked to an FR tech and he said the red wire connects to the Turn Signal - Power (main) terminal. I just want to clarify this so that when I power up nothing starts smoking . I looked in my 73 Service Manual and it appears that pink is for the hazard flasher and red is the turn signal flasher. See below.
