OK just posted about rusty fuse clips, they were pretty bad so got fixed. Now Im having a back feed issue that blows the 5amp fuse for the the dash lights then or the 20 amp park light fuse. Im also replacing some dash bulb at the moment so there are some sockets hanging empty. (no parts stores open this time of night) When I turn on the park lights everything fine as long as the dash light are turned down or off. when I turn dashes on high they light dimly and the door open/lights on buzzer makes a half sickly instead of the really major annoying buzz. The light switch has had to be jiggled to make the dashes come on for sometime. Is this a bad light switch resistor? or am I looking at something that has got grounded tonight with the tinkering?

If you have to play with the switch to get dash lights to work the rehoastat on it is bad or almost gone.Sometimes they can be cleaned with spray contact cleaner. The back feed might be the dash not grounded.I know a lot of the dashes need a ground to function properly.Rocky

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

well just grounded the system and no avail. Guess the switch is bad. Replaced a bunch of bulbs and all the sudden it worked! Then messed with it (switch) thought I was home free. Turned lights off then back on again and blew 5a fuse again. Suppose it the switch. Will write back after I get back from Iola and fix the problem or look for more help.

Ok what a return home, every thing seems to have gone nuts since I got back but in the mean time got my dash lights fixed. Went and bought and new headlamp switch and installed. Was kind of annoyed as it had extra contacts and the clip hooks for the plastic bracket weren't in the same spot but it still had the other contacts in the right spots so... Ok anyways when I took the old out it looked fine but decided to replace anyways as I was out of ideas. Even though I had grounded dash to the chassis I hadn't notice that there was a ground tab on the actual switch so I hooked a ground wire up to the dash also while I was there. Reinstalled, and the damn thing didnt blow anymore fuses. So I not really for sure if it was the extra ground or the switch but neither could have hurt. Finally some closure just in case anyone was wondering.
