The last piece of the puzzle for the B body switches is getting the original plastic knobs rechromed. I was not at all satisfied with the quality of the chroming and the turn around time of the last company I was trying to work with. I believe I have found a very reputable company this time and samples are in the works.

While attending the16th Annual All Mopar Winter Swap Meet in Columbus, Ohio on February 26, I had the pleasure of meeting Rob Wolfe. I introduced myself and mentioned that I had started a business restoring Mopar parts. Also mentioned that I had advertised previously in MCG and asked if he had any ideas about promoting JSR in MCG. I showed him a 2770380 variable speed wiper switch that he gave a close look to and asked if I had anything else with me. I pulled out a 2947713 dash dimmer switch and a 2947305 headlight switch. He took them, turned over a poster board for a white background and started snapping pictures. He stated that he wanted to run a press release on JS Restorations in the next month’s issue and that someone would be in touch. Within a week, Randy Holden called, did a phone interview and here is the outcome in the June 2011 issue.

This is a 71 Challenger grille and bezels that I recently completed. There were some repairs that were done a long time ago that needed corrected. One of the unusual areas that needed repaired were the stainless trim sockets and the lower rear mounting tabs that were badly wrapped. The trickiest part of this restoration was masking for the top and bottom black areas between the high and low beam openings because of the compound radiuses and centering the triangle points. This was a 75 hour project that included 25 hours for masking and masking removal.

Would you consider restoring fuel sending units? This is a huge issue since "the industry" has not made accurate units in ages.

The rheostat windings are tricky, if you got one opened up you'd see it immediately. Also the contact seems to fail, so maybe a better design is possible?

Yes, I have had to open those and adjust them to get back to -12 and -70 ohms. You're right that not many new ones read correctly out of the box and it was a bad design from their inception.

I promised that I would soon be offering B body restored switches. Here are some prototype restored rallye switches. I only use the word “prototype” because I have some tooling and chroming details to resolve. Non rallye switches will be offered after these.

The 68-69 dash dimmer switches will offered with custom made 302 stainless steel resistor coils.

I was extremely disappointed with the first vacuum metalized plating service company that produced poor results and cost me more time and dollars than I care to mention. I will not comment, please don’t ask.

An extremely respected vacuum metalizing resource is now working with me. I look forward to being able to offer these knobs as original as possible.

My goal is to be able to offer my restored switches with the option of vacuum metalized knobs just the way they came from the factory or plastic chromed knobs.

I have a pair of NOS dash dimmer switches at the end to show what NOS, after 40+ years at premium prices, really pays for.

Hi Jim,

I see you repair interior plastics.
It looks as if you have nailed the textured finish on the switch panels and under gauge panels. Do you have any other pictures you could post of the textured finish on panels you have repaired please< such as the radio panels and A/C panels and Non-Rallye control unit panels. It looks like i will have to send some plastics back to the USA for a touch of class from your good self, love your work .

This is an order I received to make an E body rallye heater delete panel delivered in primer. The customer will be installing three round gauges and applying the finish coat. Here’s what I built from two non rallye panels.
