I'm wondering if there is a way to do this on a '69 GTX? The factory tach reads higher than the engine is actually turning. Thanks for any help.
4 speed street legal. Best time 10.99 @ 124 mph on 93 octane pump gas @ 3926# total weight

Factory orange ECU. Nothing special. Tach works great but reads about 800 rpm higher than actual at idle and seems to multiply as rpm increases.
I have the same problem with my Challenger when I went from points to electronic. I have read you need a tach adapter but I don't know which one or where to find it.

I have had the same problem with my 72 340 Cuda after a points to an orange electronic ignition upgrade.

I calibrated mine in my 69 GTX. You have to remove the tach from the dash. It's the only way.
Jump the two dash wires to the correct leads on the tach plus a ground wire.
There are 2 clock springs that are used to calibrate it. The front one controls low speed and the back one controls high speed. The springs are obvious once you take it apart.
If you need more info, I'll dig up my instructions and mail them to you.
Is this the same proceedure for the tach in a 1966 Charger? If so I would appreciate the info as well. Contact me at darryl@sedonarental.com please.

Stay as far away from this guy as possible, trust me!
Why is that. I have used a couple of his tach kits and the worked great.
Maybe buying a kit would be ok, I made the mistake of sending something in for repair. The WORST experience I have EVER had.
When a vendor says they won't accept credit card payments because too many people have reversed the charges, it should throw up a HUGE warning sign.
I was stupid, just trying to help others not make the same mistake.

I asked Dante if the repop ebody ralley tachs would adjust for eletronic ignition and he said they need an adopter...
In reading Charger Specialties website it says their tachs will work with all types of ignitions, no mention of needing an adapter...I'll have to send them an E-mail.
"All of our tachs are made with modern electronics and will work with points, electronic, MSD and other ignition systems.
all come with a one year warranty and are made in the USA!" http://www.chargerspecialties.com/tachos.htm
