He was the first Pro Stocker to dip in the 9.50's and I think he ran a 9.58 at that race. The fastest et's in 1970 at Natioal events was in the 9.70's. At the 1971 Gatornatioals where Sox ran 9.58 and the Motown Missle ran 9.60 Arlene Vanke ran a 9.79 and lost as I remember he said............how can I run 9.70's in Pro Stock and lose ?? But they started to pick up et and Gainsville was one of the fastest tracks in the country in 1971. I know they were in the 9.40's in 1972 but I cant remember how fast the record was then. But for 1970 the Pro Stockers ran from 9.70's to mid 10's as most tracks saw most Pro Stockers running low 10's and the fast ones in the high 9's for Pro Stocks first season.
