Im building a 360 race motor and would like to know what would be the best heads to put on it. Are the edelbrock heads any good compaired to all the other heads out there?

well you can get into the 11's with just stock 2.02valve 360 heads with a little bowl blend, but like the post above whats your plan?

should be easy with that weight, set of eddys with a mild port job or RHS heads, cam in the 250 @.050 range, and at least 10.5 to 1 cr.

Welcome to the jungle... there are multiple heads
that can get you there but the cheapest is probably
the ported Eddies.... W-2s will do it easy with port
work as would W-5s but these require a different set
of rockers(but your going to need rockers anyways)

buy a set of indy 360-1s and be done with it for a while. plenty of room to upgrade if you want.

I think I would go with the w2's. I really like my set. I'm just not completely sold on the Eddys. They are a nice piece and at least everything would be brand new, but I'm not to keen on having to spend more money on something new to make it minimally better. But I would also disagree with my own statement. Confused? Me too. I'm not totally sure of flow numbers but I believe Shady Dells website has good comparisons on head choices. If I was going to spend some bucks I would look at Indys over Eddies for aluminum. The 360-1 is a good start. For iron I would go w2 or RHS. I just think the w2 is hard to beat even after 30 years. If I'm way off base someone please educate me as I'm pretty new to this.

Better get inside Ma. Looks like a storm's comin'.

Are you on a loose, or tight budget????

I would look into the rhs/indy heads.
ou812 here offers them for I think maybe 1300-1400 complete and ready to use in the chamber CC of your choice. They flow extremely well for an iron head. They're a much beefier casting than factory also and won't crack, leak at the valve cover, and take standard or a w2 header, and can be ported for more flow even. I think they flow 270cfm at .550 lift the way he offers them for the mentioned price. That's with NO porting! You can also get them in the magnum or LA style rocker bosses. same casting, different bosses used. They come with ferrea stainless 2.02 valves, beehive springs and can do a .600 lift maybe a little more.

I got them because they are a great deal and are PROVEN to cut the 10 second number on a 410 in a 3000ish lb car. Since a 360 CAN make the same power with more rpm and given the weight of your car, I would say they would do the trick for you.

These would leave you more money to throw at other things like rockers or the bottom end. In the end you can build an awesome and strong 360 for not a lot.

I wish I would have gotten a set of them but at the time I just did not have the extra cash but now I wish I would have waited or done something to get them

So.. mainly we have this.. ordered by cost/flow (stage 3 ported)

Indy/RHS (270cfm)
Iron Ram (268cfm ??)
Edelbrock (280cfm)
Indybrock (300cfm)
W2 (hard to find) (320cfm)
Indy 360-1 (320cfm)
W5 (330cfm)
Commando Large Port (320cfm ??)

Said something too stupid here?

It would help to know more about the car, chassis, and components you plan on using.
That said, the best head to BOLT ON would probably be an Indy head. You may be able to use a ported eddy head and save some $$$, but hard to say with such limited info...

From my experiencce, Heads-Up and BUDGET are not allowed in the same sentence. LOL! Go with a W-5 or wait a while and save to spring for a set of W8's or W9's. You will be glad you did.

Ive got a set of 59* w-9's with valves that i'd sell as im now going 48*. W9s flow around 290-300 out the box and are the lightest heads available. these would support what your trying to do as they are with no work. Only downside is you'll have to run different rockers and pushrod oiling....

well here was my plan. I have a 72 dart all tubbed out with a 4 link. 727 with a 3800 stall and a 4.88 gear. Now for the motor i already have most of the parts for the bottom end just need to figure out what im putting on top. My original plan was about 12.5 to 13 to 1 compression, edelbrock heads with a M-1 intake. But im now thinking about some W2 heads but i dont know yet. Im on a tight buget also.
