It's getting close to start up time for my 512 low deck. Heads are Stealths, compression is 13.5:1. Roller cam with .630 lift.

What heat range would you start with?

Best plug on the market
Autolite racing
AR 3933 for yours which is a cooler range plug...Up to about 12:1 I would use a AR 3934 which is a med heat plug...
You cant hardly foul them out, and they last several seasons... Note they are a cut back style ground strap
And they are available at the local parts store like Advance etc

Can't do it. Guess I'll stick with NGK. I looked up the plug and it's "Fram Autolite". I don't want anything related to Fram anywhere close to any of my engines.

I built this page describing my experience with Fram and their insurance company.... Never again...

Champion RC63YC or NGK 8 or the equalivent Accels part # s as you don't want to run Autolites I'm not sure if the stealths reqire a 5/8 socket plug or a if you can use the standard long reack 13/16 socket plugds like the Champion N6YC or colder plugs

I think the Champion C59CX is about the same as the AR3933. It seems to work good in my engine.

I do know the plugs seem to make a lot of difference in the Big Block Mopar engines.

Bob do you think the AR3933 would be better than the C59CX in my 15-1 engine with twin Terminators on alcohol?

Agree, Autolites do not live in my motor......maybe it`s my poor tune up skills but NGK`s last and run better for me personally. And to say ANYTHING is the best is just plain crazy.

Thats about the same setup I ran, nut it was twin Terminators. I ran a single small 4" toilet. The engine was about 15.5:1.
Comparing spark plugs to oil filters, and Im being called crazy.
Yea..OK there...
If people are fouling these things out, they do need some tune up lessons fact...
I ran a set for 3 seasons, had the heads off for some work, and went ahead and purchased new ones.
I cant say I have been through set after set, cause I havent......So maybe I have just lucked out and got special plugs or something.
I have run NGK's once, never had no trouble really..
I have run them in street engines 600+hp, alky injected engines with 900hp, and average bracket engines in the 700-800hp range. So my experience is first hand not based one single application, or some internet story, about something totally diff.

I run the NGKs in my Stealth headed 446 with 12.5 domes.I had Autolites and they did OK.The NGKs seem to idle better and have more response.I used NGK R5671A-8.Stock # 4554.They have been in for 4 months and its street driven. That and my kids price at Advanced was like 13 bucks for 8.Rocky

For comparison in my 511 low deck with Indy heads at 13.5 (flat top piston), I run NGK R5672A-8.

I did run the standard tip, cooler, Autolite AR3933 for a few months (60 passes) and they were OK but a little cold for my application. I then put the equivalent NGK R5671A-9 in they were the same. So I went back to the R5672A-8. This is my second year on the -8 plugs. I ran the same projected tip -8 plugs in my engine on gas too. Always got a couple years on them (300 passes) and replaced them while they were still working fine. Now Ron's Toilet injected with E85.

I agree, but that's not what I'm doing. I am considering the support system Fram DOESN'T HAVE. From my experience they could care less about the end user. As long as Checker and Autozone continue to stock their shelves with practically nothing, but Fram junk filters, they're happy as pigs in slop.

Let's say you bought an SRT8 and your air filter completely failed letting crap run through your engine for a few thousand miles. What would you expect the filter manufacturer to do for you? I didn't even get a replacement filter after I sent mine in for "inspection". Not even a damn filter

So, the 4554 and the 7173 seem to be identical except one is projected tip and the other is non-projected. Heat range is the same. What kind of real world difference does the projected vs non-projected tip make?

Also, Will the non-resistor race plugs work ok with MSD??

Thanks!

Jim what is the difference between the R5671A-8 and R5672A-8. which NGK plug would you recommend for my 11.1 Indy EZ headed 440 engine with wisco flat top pistons? Rick i think you would want the non resistor plug for the msd. Mopar65

Projected type plug is basicly self cleaning & will run hotter due to the projected porcelane & longer ground strap , if the motor is bordering detonation , ie: speckles showing on porcelane &/or ground strap heat mark past bend towards threads then a non projected type may fair better (equivalant heat range)

Projected plugs run hotter due to being further into the combustion chamber.
