Hi,

I usually post about my '71 Charger but this time its about my 2000 4wd Dakota. The ABS and brake lights are on. I tried to pull the code and just get 'P done'. Any ideas on how to diagnose the problem?

Thanks

did you recently bleed your brakes? I have heard that air in the lines can cause this. Could also have a bad abs sensor.

Do the brake lights work right, and is the trailer wiring okay?

The pads & shoes were replaced last summer, no other work has been done. The brake lights work. I haven't tried to use the trailer wiring for years.

What scan tool were you using to pull the codes? If the ABS light is on there is a code there. There is a couple things that turn on both the red brake light and the abs light. One thing comes to mind is the brake fluid level sensor in the master cylinder. Until you find out what exactly the code is it's all just a guess at this point. DRB 3 scan tool should do the job.

I would inspect/check your brakelines. Had 2(!) Dakota's a 93 and an 01 pop the lines the same day and in both instances both lights illuminated.

I was just turning the ignition switch 3 times to get the codes. I'll probably have to go to Pep Boys or VIP to see if they can get the code.

I'll double check the fluid level.
